All Seniors Care Living Centres residences are hosting Old West style Grandparent's Day events while raising awareness and donations for local food banks across Canada.

The Magnificent Western Event is a special celebration of Grandparent’s Day with a Western themed event raising awareness, food, and funds for local food banks on September 6 & 7. All ASC residences across Canada will be hosting this event on either day at various times starting with a Blue Jean BBQ; followed by a silent auction, bingo and a sing-a-long. Grandma and Grandpa Buckaroos, their families, friends and extras from their communities.

As a group Canada food banks recognize that they face high numbers but hope, by 2020, that the need for food bank use will be reduced by half. The Magnificent 6 strives to include all generations.  A challenge has gone out to All Seniors Care retirement residences across Canada to raise the most food and funds for local food banks to aid in the fight against hunger.

All Seniors Care honours grandparents and their importance to the structure of the family in nurturing, upbringing, and education of children.  We acknowledge it takes all generations, “the village” to raise awareness, help fill hungry bellies and build stronger communities.

Preview:  From now until Sept 11, All Seniors Care residences will be accepting toonies and non-perishable cowboy foods in support of Winnipeg Harvest.

“Winnipeg Harvest is worthy of our support for people that have a lot less than we do. We can all afford to contribute to this worthwhile organization. This year I believe that we should be able to give just a little more than we have in the past. Those that receive what you give appreciate it more than we believe is possible, says Frank Shymko, River Ridge resident.
