I am playing against my friends in some close competition. It’s a week we all look forward to,” said Gib!

Competitors were joined at the award ceremony by Minister Rick Wilson, Minister of Indigenous Relations, who participated in congratulating the winning athletes on their performances. In keeping with our Love Letter theme, Minister Wilson shared a very touching story of love. Thank you!

Wrapping up a great week events at College Park Retirement Residence. New players Mavis O. and Estelle L. came in strong and stole the show with placing bronze and silver, and our College Park reigning jeopardy champion won her rightly deserved gold medal! Gold Medalist Dawn V. exclaimed: “I knew all of these facts I have in my head would come to use one day!” New resident Mavis O. won three medals at her first ever games! What a way to make an entrance!

The bistro was so quiet this morning you could hear a pin drop, as whist players concentrated on the game at hand. A big change from the bellows and cheering that could be heard across the building throughout the week. When asked if she has been studying for Jeopardy, Gold medalist Irene B. said “No, but I have been on this earth a long time, and I have been reading for most of it!”

Love was really felt in the air at College Park 2 today as residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors all reminisced on the days’ and week’s events with a smile, laugher, and fondness. Wrapping up a week of great events at Preston Park!  The week was a resounding success with competitors of all ages competing. Our youngest competitor was 56 and our most senior competitor was 103!

The all-female competition was fierce and a force to be reckoned with, but in the end it all came down to one final tile. Women really do rule.

Elizabeth P, John M, and Harold S came out with their knowledge caps on and ready to reveal all the information they have stored from years gone by. There a couple participants who got excited when they knew the answer and shouted it, which was followed by fellow trivia players saying “shhhh”! It is VERY HARD to not verbally shout out an answer to the trivia question when you know the answer

It was a record turnout for this event! Wrapping up a great week of events at Seine River Retirement Residence. After all the brain crunching questions were answered Heather. Wrapping up a great week events at Beacon Heights.  Competition was intense! The two lead players found themselves in a tie until a tie breaker round decided the winner.  Gold Medalist Gaetane got a question during trivia asking what type of drivers make the best waltzers.  Someone shouted out of turn, “It a screw driver!” Everyone burst into laughter. Competitors were joined at the award ceremony by Councillor Tim Tierney, who said “I’ve had the pleasure of doing this for 12 years and it’s so nice to see everybody again after a 2 year pause. As always, a terrific reception and great company.” Mr. Tierney gave out metals for trivia and bridge. Congratulations to all who participated!

Today game was a Cite Parkway favourite, we played Big Group Bingo. We had 24 competitors eagerly shutting bingo card windows hoping for a full line, a diagonal or vertical line or 4 corners!!!. Then the battle cry: BINGO! Wrapping up a great week events at Bingo was a perfect blend of social and competitive play.  Bingo is a favourite because of its social nature. Some residents play with 2 cards, some juggle 5 cards at a time. Competitors and Volunteers were joined by City Councillor Rawlson King at our Closing Ceremony as we danced and celebrated with the participants on their performances.
