With the opening of the 2017 All Seniors Care Seniors Games across the country our residents and guest are ready for a week of actively, fellowship and laughter. This annual event is part of the commitment that the team at All Seniors Care Living Centres have made to helping maintain active and healthy lifestyles throughout the years at our beautiful retirement communities.

To open The Games, our Chefs du Mission in each building officially welcomed guests, read messages of congratulations and encouragement from Governor General David Johnston and Our Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau. Many celebrities and dignitaries volunteered their time to help make the event a success. Her Honour, The Honourable Janice Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba Lieutenant brought greetings and words of encouragement while MP’s, MLA/MPP’s, City Mayors and Councillors were in attendance at all 24 Residences across the country to provide their well wishes throughout the day. All of the dignitaries who gave of their time to help us were greeted with cheers and appreciation

Now that the Games are officially open residents and their guests at the 28 All Seniors Care retirement communities across Canada are so looking forward to the week ahead of competition that the air is charged with excitement! At CTV Saskatoon during CTV Morning Live, our Preston Park I Chef du Mission, Ms. Lenora Schmidt introduced that city to our Games, while at Sturgeon Creek I CTV and CJOB radio interviewed, Games organizer, Ms. Ronna Goldberg, on the importance of the Games in our communities and in Edmonton Global TV, CBC TV and CTV showcased The Games in their city.

The theme of this year’s games is HEROES and all our residents have been encouraged to identify their personal hero and there are very many wonderful stories. A great example of one of the stories comes from Cite Parkway Retirement Residence, in Ottawa, where resident Peter C. identified: “My hero is my 5th, 6th, and 7th grade teacher Mr. Proulx. I was the first English student at that French school. He took me under his wing and really made me feel at home. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet him later in life so he could have known the impact he had on my life”.

Across Canada, several thousand older adults will be enjoying the fun, friendly competition and activity that comes from taking part in the Games this week. The Games run until Feb. 10th and spectators are welcome! For further information, please visit our website at www.allseniorscare.com
