HAMILTON, ON – Music is a universal language, and All Seniors Care is thrilled to announce the launch of Little Rebels Music and Development classes at Summit Heights Retirement Residence in Hamilton on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Developed by Jennifer Neales, Owner and Creative Director at Little Rebels Music, and Hannah Silver, Vice President, Health & Wellness at All Seniors Care, the idea is simple: host an intergenerational music program that provides a unique opportunity for elderly residents to move and groove with kids.

“We are so excited,” says Neales. “It will be a special time for both seniors and families. No matter the physical or cognitive skill set, the program uses music that is familiar to all ages.  It compels everyone to sing along, and the excitement has a ripple effect.”

‘Not your average music class’, the Little Rebels curriculum is carefully crafted for kids from 2 months to 5 years. The aim is to encourage cognitive learning, muscle development, play, and confidence. Benefits that translate easily across the lifespan and pose a valuable experience for older adults in retirement residences.

“We strive for a vibrant community in retirement,” says Silver. “Bringing children in with such a fun program just seemed natural. We think it will bring so much joy to our residents!”

Local seniors, parents/guardians and tots are invited to move and groove with the Intergenerational Music Class. The class incorporates song – Broadway, Motown, and Rock ‘n’ Roll-inspired tunes – movement, balls, shakers, and a parachute to get everyone involved and is guaranteed to uplift people of all ages!
