Older adults across the country team up to cheer each other on.

CANADA – The All Seniors Care Games entered it’s second day with a strong showing from all the athletes.  On Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 thousands of seniors bouled in a quest to win a National Medal.

The first day of competition and Day 2 of the ASC Senior Games kicked off when older adults at All Seniors Care Living Centres limbered up with a game of Bean Bag Toss before turning their attention to the National Medal in Pétanque atout. It was the perfect way to get everyone into the competitive spirit!

Basic etiquette dictates that Pétanque be accompanied by a lot of noise like rattling balls, loud voices, and cries of encouragement.  ASCSG participants did not let their fellow players down! Whoops and hollers of support echoed around the residences as players stepped up to the throw or paced out their distances.  In a show of great sportsmanship, a resident at Cedarcroft Retirement Residence in Stratford, ON, Stuart called out to a competitor as he was about to throw his the pétanque ball, “Let’s go for gold buddy!”

The day was full of excitement, cheers, and laughter with competitors aged 65 to 101 battled it out for medals and bragging rights at 28 retirement communities across Canada.

Congratulations to all medalists, competitors, spectators, and presenters! The Seniors Games are part of the All Seniors Care commitment to providing seniors with innovative ways to develop and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle and run until February 9th.
