Annual Hang Your Flag Day Sweeps Across All Seniors Care Residences

CANADA – If you’re driving past an All Seniors Care retirement residence this Canada Day, you might think you’ve stumbled upon the country’s most patriotic neighbourhood.

From Ontario to Saskatchewan, Alberta to Quebec, thousands of Canadian flags are flying from balconies as residents take part in Hang Your Flag Day—an annual All Seniors Care tradition that transforms the organization’s 29 retirement residences into striking displays of red and white.

For many residents, hanging their flag has become as much a part of Canada Day as fireworks, backyard barbecues and singing O Canada. Some proudly display the same flag year after year, while others help new neighbours decorate, turning the event into a celebration that brings entire communities together.

“Hang Your Flag Day is one of those traditions that everyone wants to be part of,” said Hannah Silver, Vice President of Health & Wellness at All Seniors Care Living Centres. “Watching flags go up at all our buildings is an incredible sight. It’s a celebration of the country our residents have helped build and a reminder that pride in Canada never grows old.”

The celebrations continue throughout the week with cross-country travelogues, Canadian trivia and Jeopardy, patriotic décor, strawberry socials, and Canada Day favourites including poutine, butter tarts and maple treats. Families and friends are invited to join many of the activities, making it even more meaningful.

For residents who have witnessed decades of Canadian history, Canada Day is also a chance to reminisce. Stories of Expo 67, cross-country adventures, military service, immigration, raising families and building communities become just as important as the celebrations themselves. Happy Canada Day!

Photos and videos of the flags flying from All Seniors Care residences across Canada will be shared throughout Canada Day week on Facebook. at www.facebook.com/allseniorscare.
